The entire nation is presently worried over the fast-spreading Covid pandemic. The situation is worse compared to last year’s peak. On Thursday, the number of new Covid cases surged to 1,31,968 across India, the highest recorded so far. 780 Covid-related deaths were reported on Thursday, the highest since October 18. The daily surge has been consistent for the last 30 consecutive days. For the last three days, the daily surge in new cases has gone above the 1-lakh level. The number of active Covid-19 cases is ready to touch one million (9,79,608). The recovery rate, according to Health Ministry, has further dropped to 91.22 percent.

Migrant workers returning home from Mumbai in packed trains due to Covid-19 restrictions
Amid a massive spike in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, migrant workers have started returning to their native states fearing another complete lockdown that could be imposed by the government. The Uddhav Thackeray government has already announced a slew of restrictions, including night curfews and weekend lockdowns, till April 30 to curtail the rapid spread of infection. The western state reported as many as 56,000 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest by any state. A total of 376 people lost their lives due to infection.

Ahmedabad: Fire breaks out at Ankur International School, several feared trapped
A massive fire broke out at Ankur international school premises in the Krishna Nagar area of Ahmedabad on Friday, in which around 6-7 people were feared to be trapped. As per the initial reports, at least 10 fire tenders had reached the spot.

Platform tickets suspended at Mumbai CSMT, Dadar, Kalyan Railway stations
In view of rising cases of Covid-19, Central Railways on Friday announced to suspend platform tickets at six Mumbai railway stations. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kurla LTT, Kalyan junction, Thane, Dadar, and Panvel, are some of those stations which see a large crowd of passengers commuting every day.
