India reports over 96,000 new COVID-19 cases, 446 fatalities in last 24 hours

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections in India remained above 90,000 for the third consecutive day taking the nationwide COVID-19 tally of cases to 1,26,86,049, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. A total of 96,982 cases have been reported in a span of 24 hours, while the death toll increased to 1,65,547 with 446 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Uttar Pradesh cabinet approves tenancy ordinance

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the decision to bring in the Uttar Pradesh Regulation of Urban Premises Tenancy (second) Ordinance 2021. The provisions of the ordinance will lead to a reduction in tenancy disputes and in older cases rents can be revisited. Once the ordinance is promulgated, the signing of a contract will become compulsory to rent out a property. This will safeguard the interests of both, the property owner and the tenant.

COVID-19: Kejriwal government considering proposal to impose night curfew in Delhi

The Arvind Kejriwal government is considering a proposal to impose night curfew in the national capital in view of rising coronavirus cases. Reports say that the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) has not yet responded to the proposal. Once the CM takes a call on it, it will be sent to Lt Governor Anil Baijal for final approval.
