Recovery of 'sticky bombs' indicates initiation of new phase of terrorism in JK: Officials

The recovery of 'sticky bombs' from Samba sector in this region last month has set alarm bells ringing within the security establishment in Jammu and Kashmir as this indicates initiation of a new phase of terrorism in the union territory, officials said on Monday. The BSF had recovered the bombs dropped by a drone along the international border in the Samba sector of Jammu region on February 14, putting security agencies on high alert with an assumption that some of the IEDs could have already found their way to the Kashmir valley, the officials said.

IMD predicts above normal summer temperature across country except South, central India

Day temperatures are likely to be above normal in north, northeast, parts of east and west India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Monday in its summer forecast for March to May. However, it has forecast a likelihood of below normal temperatures in south and adjoining central India.

Fire in Surat building, 2 persons move out of 4th floor window

Two residents of a fire-affected building saved themselves by using a window on its fourth floor to reach an adjoining apartment here in Gujarat on Monday, officials said. The fire broke out in the five-storey residential building in Surat's Sagrampura locality around noon, they said, adding that no casualty was reported. Following the blaze in an electric meter board on the ground floor of the building, smoke spread to its upper floors, causing panic among residents.
