UP: Mentally unstable man goes on stabbing spree in Janunpur, kills 2

A mentally unstable man went on a stabbing spree in Janunpur's Badi Khas village, killing his daughter and a woman and injuring his mother, wife, son and another family member. Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Raj Karan Nayyar said the accused Mumtaz a.k.a. Sonu has been arrested and sent to jail.

Delhi's minimum temperature dips to 4 deg C; fog lowers visibility in several areas

Parts of Delhi witnessed fog on Wednesday as the minimum temperature in the national capital dropped to four degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. According to an IMD statement, 'moderate' fog lowered visibility to 201 metres at Safdarjung and to 350 metres at Palam. According to the weather department, “very dense” fog is when visibility is between 0 and 50 metres, 51 and 200 is “dense”, 201 and 500 “moderate”, and 501 and 1,000 “shallow”.

I hope agitation ends soon, says Rajnath Singh on Farmers' Day

Greeting farmers on the occassion of Farmers' Day today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that he hopes farmers will end their agitation soon. He said, "Today, on the occasion of Farmers Day, I greet all 'annadaata' of the country. They have provided the country with food security. Some farmers are agitated about agricultural laws. The government is talking to them with full sensitivity. I hope that they will withdraw their movement soon."

India records 23,950 new COVID-19 cases, 333 death in 24 hrs; active caseload falls to 2.86%

India on Wednesday added 23,950 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data released this morning. The country's total number is now at 1,00,99,066. The number of Covid-related deaths reported in 24 hours was 333, taking the total to 1,46,444.

Farmer unions to decide on Centre's offer for talks today, Tomar says hopeful of resolution

Farmer unions protest at Delhi border points for more nearly four weeks are likely to hold a meet today to decide on the Centre's fresh offer for talks on the new farm laws. Earlier on Wednesday, farmers deferred a decision on the government's offer even as Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar expressed the hope that "unions will soon resume the dialogue".

Uttar Pradesh: Two dead after Ammonia gas leak at Prayagraj's IFFCO plant, 14 critical
