Kerala local body polls: Last phase voting underway in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod

Voting is under way for the third and final phase of Kerala local body elections in the four southern districts -- Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. The third phase of polling involves 273 grama panchayats, 44 block panchayats, four district panchayats, 31 municipalities and two corporations.

BJP protest outside Kejriwal's house turns violent, CCTV cameras broken

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and councillors, staging a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's house for the past several days, broke CCTV cameras on Sunday, the Chief Minister's Office said. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also released a video of the BJP workers breaking the cameras.

Farmer leaders to observe hunger strike as thousands swell at Delhi borders

Farmer leaders backed by thousands of agitating farmers will observe hunger strike on Monday to press for their demand to repeal the three agri laws that are at the heart of protests. Today is the 19th day of the farmers stir. Farmers will also hold demonstrations across the country today. Farmer unions have also called for protests at all district headquarters to press for their demand to repeal the new farm laws.

Farmers' stir: Kejriwal observes day-long fast; urges Centre to scrap agri laws

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will today observe a fast in solidarity with the farmers protesting against the Centre's new farm laws. The chief minister has also appealed to the Central government to scrap the legislations. Addressing a virtual press briefing on Sunday, Kejriwal had said he will hold one-day fast on Monday in response to a call given by the agitating farmers and urged his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers, supporters as well as the people of the country to join in. He also asked the Centre bring a Bill to guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for agricultural produce.

Farmers' protest: Group of Jamia Millia Islamia students sent back from UP Gate

Farmers protesting against the Centre's new agricultural laws on Sunday refused to allow a group of Jamia Millia Islamia students to join their agitation at the UP Gate (Ghaziabad)-Ghazipur (Delhi) border. According to the police, a group of six students, including girls, had arrived at the spot to render support to the farmers by singing and playing 'dafli' (tambourine). However, the police sent the students back after the farmer leaders objected to their presence there, DSP Anshu Jain said.
