Heavy rains likely to lash parts of Tamil Nadu for next few days; red alert issued

Chennai woke up to heavy rainfall even today, thereby leading to waterlogging in parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely to continue over parts of Tamil Nadu for the next few days due to depression over the Bay of Bengal. The low pressure is very likely to concentrate into a depression over Southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal during the next 36 hours, the daily bulletin by the regional meteorological department in Chennai informed.
