7th Pay Commission: Modi Cabinet approves 4% DA hike for government employees

7th Pay Commission: The Centre brought festive cheer for the government employees on the fourth day of Navratri as it announced a four per cent DA hike for them on Wednesday. The DA (dearness allowance) for government employees and pensioners, now stands at 46 per cent, will be effective from July 1, 2023.

More than 13 people were injured after a bus carrying 40 Sabarimala pilgrims overturned after the driver lost control of it, said a police official on Wednesday. He said the accident occurred at Kanamala, near Erumeli, Kottayam district on Wednesday morning.

'Final opportunity to decide disqualification of Shiv Sena MLAs': SC to Maharashtra Speaker

The Supreme Court on Tuesday again expressed its displeasure in the progress of the Shiv Sena MLAs' disqualification petitions and called for expeditious adjudication. The SC had come down hard on the Maharashtra assembly speaker, saying the proceedings cannot be a “charade” and he cannot "defeat" its orders. An irked CJI had said a decision on disqualification pleas has to be taken before the next assembly elections otherwise the whole process will become infructuous. The next state assembly polls will likely be held around September-October 2024.

Delhi court adjourns hearing in wrestlers' sexual harassment case, posts matter on Oct 19
