Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday backed the Women's Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha that was introduced by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. The bill seeks to reserve 33 per cent of seats in the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies. During the debate on the bill, the Wayanad MP said that he is in support of it but lamented that the measure was "incomplete" as it lacks quota for other backward classes.
Nipah cases: Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Wednesday informed that no new Nipah cases have been reported in the state in the last four days. The outbreak of the virus posed a threat to the people. She added that out of the 323 samples, 317 were tested negative and six were tested positive till now. According to George, 11 persons are in isolation and their test results are negative. 
Congress on Women's Reservation Bill: The government on Tuesday introduced a constitutional amendment bill to reserve one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. Making it the first bill to be introduced in the new Parliament building, the government said it will enable greater participation of women in policy-making. 
Parliament Special Session: The first day of the special session of the Parliament took a dramatic turn after the opposition launched a blistering attack on the ruling BJP over the G20 Summit. Stepping up an attack on PM Modi and his party, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge during his 65-minute-long address referred G20 Summit as the "G2 Summit". He later asserted that "lotus" covered the zero in the G20 Summit. 
Parliament special session: A day ahead of the week-long special session of Parliament, the Congress party has yet again raised their demand for a greater reservation for women in legislative roles. In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the Congress Working Committee demands that the Women’s Reservation Bill must be passed during the special session of Parliament.
