Maharashtra on Friday recorded 1,134 new coronavirus infections, the highest daily rise in cases since February 24, and three deaths, the state health department said.

The CBI on Thursday filed a charge sheet against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh and others in connection with its probe into the Rs 100 crore bribery allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against him. The move comes a day after a special court in Mumbai allowed a plea of dismissed police officer Sachin Waze to turn an approver and seek pardon in the case.

Assam flood: Situation improves as death toll rises to 38; over 1 lakh remain affected

Assam flood news updates: The grim situation in Assam, where pre-monsoon floods affected several regions, saw some improvement on Wednesday.
