Sharad Pawar says Congress better positioned, not interested in UPA chairperson's post

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has said that he is not interested in becoming the chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). Speaking at an event in Kolhapur on Sunday, Pawar said that he is ready to help if efforts are made to bring all the opposition parties together to put up a united fight against BJP.

India records 913 fresh Covid cases, lower than thousand after 715 days

India recorded 913 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 13 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Monday (April 4), the country saw a total of 1,316 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.76 per cent, and total recoveries data reached to 4,24,95,089.

Yati Narsinghanand booked for controversial remarks at 'Hindu Mahapanchayat' in Delhi

Soon after his controversial speech at a 'Hindu Mahapanchayat' in Delhi on Sunday, priest Yati Narsinghanand was booked along with other speakers. At the event, Narsinghanand said "50 per cent of Hindus will convert" in 20 years if a Muslim becomes the prime minister of the country. Police said they had denied permission for the event but the organisers still went ahead with the Mahapanchayat Sabha and around 700-800 people were present at the venue.

50 pc Hindus will convert to Islam if Muslim becomes PM, says rabble-rouser priest Yati Narsinghanand

Notorious for making intemperate remarks against Muslims, Yati Narsinghanand, the head priest of the Dasna Devi temple, stoked yet another controversy on Sunday with his comment that "50 per cent of Hindus will convert" in 20 years if a Muslim became the prime minister of India. Addressing a 'Hindu Mahapanchayat' for which the Delhi administration had not granted permission, he also exhorted Hindus to take up arms to fight for their existence. The Mahapanchayat was organised at Burari grounds here by Preet Singh of Save India Foundation. This is the same group which had earlier held a similar controversial event at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, where anti-Muslim slogans were raised.
