The government on Wednesday announced the merger of four film media units - Films Division, Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), National Film Archive of India (NFAI), and Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) - with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting transferred the mandate of production of documentaries and short films, organizing film festivals, and preservation of films to the NFDC, a PSU working under it with an aim to reduce the overlap of various activities and ensure better utilization of public resources, a government order said.

Bihar assembly passes amendment Bill on liquor ban with 100% majority
90-year-old priest found murdered in Gurugram
A 90-year-old priest of a temple at Kadarpur village in the district was found murdered in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. The priest's head was severed from the torso and the body was covered with a blanket, they said. Police suspect the role of some drug addicts behind the murder as some packets of marijuana were recovered from the spot.

J&K: LeT terrorists, one carrying fake media ID card, killed in Srinagar encounter
Two terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba/The Resistance Front (LeT/TRF) were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, in the wee hours of Wednesday. According to the Jammu and Kashmir police, the encounter broke out in the Rainawari area of Srinagar.
