'Anything can happen if BJP desires': Shiv Sena minister suggests Bihar formula for Maharashtra

Only Nitin Gadkari can bridge the differences between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Abdul Sattar said on Tuesday, hinting at the Bihar formula for sharing power in the state. Sattar, a minister of state in the Maharashtra government, made the remarks after a meeting with Gadkari, during which he discussed highway projects in the Marathwada region.

Omicron variant LIVE Updates: 59 more doctors test COVID positive at Patna hospital

Night curfew imposed in Goa; schools, colleges shut as COVID-19 cases spiral

The Goa government on Monday decided to close schools and colleges till January 26 in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the coastal state. Besides, the government imposed a night curfew in the state. The curfew orders will be in place from 11 pm to 6 am everyday.

India reports 37,379 fresh COVID cases, 124 deaths; Omicron cases in country mount to 1,892

India reported 37,379 fresh cases of coronavirus, along with 124 deaths in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry data on Tuesday showed. A total of 11,007 people recovered from the infection on Monday, the data stated, adding the daily positivity rate was at 3.24 per cent.

COVID-19: BMC issues fresh guidelines for sealing of buildings in Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday issued fresh guidelines for sealing buildings in Mumbai amid the COVID-19 case surge. According to the guidelines, the whole building or a wing shall be sealed if more than 20 per cent of the occupied number of flats in the building or wing are found to be COVID positive. The guidelines shall come into effect from today, that is January 4, 2021.
