Beneficiaries in the age group of 15 to 18 years across the country will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccinations from today. On December 25, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the vaccination for the age-group 15-18 years is scheduled to begin from January 3, 2022, while the administration of precautionary third dose for the vulnerable categories is to commence from January 10, 2022.
Two farmers were on Saturday arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that took place on October 3 last year. According to the SIT sources, the farmers were arrested in connection with the alleged lynching of three BJP workers during the violence. 
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar owns movable and immovable assets worth ₹ 75.36 lakh, while his son Nishant is almost five times richer than him. As per details of assets of the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues uploaded on the Bihar government website on December 31, Kumar has ₹ 29,385 in cash and nearly ₹ 42,763 deposited in the bank, while his son Nishant has ₹ 16,549 in cash and ₹ 1.28 crore in Fixed Deposit (FD) or deposits in various banks.

Nearly 27,000 pilgrims offered prayers at the Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine on Saturday, following the stampede incident that killed 12 people and injured several others. Maharashtra has recorded the maximum number of 460 Omicron cases followed by Delhi, Kerala and Gujarat. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on December 28 declared 'yellow alert' under which schools, colleges, cinemas and gyms shall be closed, shops dealing in non-essential items will open on odd-even basis, and metro trains and buses will run with 50 per cent of seating capacity in the city. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, however, has asserted that Delhi is fully prepared to deal with the Covid situation.
