Face masks could lower Covid risk by up to 225 times, finds study

Wearing a face mask is better than social distancing at preventing you from catching Covid, a study suggests, Daily Mail reported. Researchers found that donning a covering could lower the risk by up to 225 times, compared to solely relying on a three-metre rule, the report said.

NHRC notice to Centre, Nagaland over civilian killings in security ops

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday issued notice to the Defence Secretary, the Union Home Secretary, and the Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police of Nagaland, seeking a detailed report in the killings of civilians in an army operation, within six weeks.

Elgar Parishad case: SC rejects NIA’s plea against Bombay HC order granting bail to Sudha Bharadwaj

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday dismissed a petition of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) challenging the Bombay High Court order granting bail to lawyer-activist Sudha Bharadwaj, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case. The NIA had moved the top court earlier against the high court's December 1 order.
