Breaking: Petrol price cut by Rs 8 per litre in Delhi, diesel price unchanged

The Delhi government has reduced VAT on petrol to 19.40% from 30%. The prices of petrol in Delhi will reduce by Rs 8 per litre. The new rates will come into effect from midnight today.

Omicron Live News Updates: UP's Meerut starts monitoring people arriving from foreign countries

In the wake of new COVID-19 variant Omicron, the Meerut Health Department has started monitoring the people coming from foreign countries, an official said. Akhilesh Mohan, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Meerut said that a total of 209 people have come from abroad in the last 12 days. The Chief Medical Officer further informed that the reports of 13 people are yet to come and others have been tested negative. "Arrangements have been made in Subharti Medical College and LLRM Medical College for any COVID-19 positive international passenger. Further, the affected passengers will be monitored for seven days and we will continuously remain in touch with COVID-19 Command Centre," Mohan added.  The Omicron variant (B.1.1.529), a new variant of the COVID-19, was first reported in Botswana on November 11, 2021, and appeared on November 14 in South Africa. It has been declared a variant of concern by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Delhi air pollution: No relief in sight till Thursday

A cloud cover over Delhi led to a slight increase in the minimum temperature that settled at 11.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, on Wednesday morning, officials said. They said a Western Disturbance affecting northwest India will result in a spell of partly cloudy days and a drizzle on Thursday in the national capital. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 25 degrees Celsius.

India logs 8,954 COVID cases, over 10,000 recoveries in 24 hours; active cases below 1 lakh

COVID-19 India Live News Updates: India recorded 8,954 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 267 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, the country saw a total of 10,207 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.35 per cent which is the highest since March 2020 and total recoveries data reached to 3,40,28,506.
