Delhi air pollution: No relief in sight till Thursday

A cloud cover over Delhi led to a slight increase in the minimum temperature that settled at 11.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, on Wednesday morning, officials said. They said a Western Disturbance affecting northwest India will result in a spell of partly cloudy days and a drizzle on Thursday in the national capital. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 25 degrees Celsius.

Farmers' protest will not end as govt yet to accept demands: Rakesh Tikait

Tikait, who is spearheading the protest at Delhi's Ghazipur site, said that the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will meet on December 4 to chalk out future strategy.

India logs 8,954 COVID cases, over 10,000 recoveries in 24 hours; active cases below 1 lakh

COVID-19 India Live News Updates: India recorded 8,954 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 267 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, the country saw a total of 10,207 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.35 per cent which is the highest since March 2020 and total recoveries data reached to 3,40,28,506.

Srinagar: COVID test made compulsory for all international passengers, followed by 7-day home quarantine

Amid concerns over the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, RT PCR test of all international passengers arriving at Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar Airport would be conducted, followed by a seven-day home quarantine for those who test negative. In view of the government advisory, the special meeting chaired by Kashmir Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Pandurang K Pole on Tuesday decided to make the on-spot RT PCR test mandatory for all international passengers at Srinagar Airport, irrespective of travellers previous negative report or vaccination status.

The discussion on the new Omicron variant will be held under Rule 193. Under this rule, members can seek details about the new Covid variant. On Tuesday, Mandaviya informed the Rajya Sabha that no case of Omicron variant had been reported in the country as of now. He also briefed the Upper House about the country's preparedness. The government will also try to table 'The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2020', which it failed to do in the first two days of the current session.
