India offers vaccines, other help including essential life-saving drugs to Omicron-affected nations

The Central government on Monday offered 'Made in India' vaccine supply and other help to the countries dealing with the new Covid variant 'Omicron' in Africa. In a statement, the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "The Government of India stands ready to support the countries affected in Africa in dealing with the Omicron variant, including by supplies of 'Made in India' vaccines. Supplies can be undertaken through Covax or bilaterally."

Delhi Metro unveils first refurbished train with LCD display, new flooring, redone exteriors

In a first-ever mid-life overhaul of its old rolling stock, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday unveiled its first refurbished train which was introduced into service 14 years ago as part of its Phase-I network. The exercise was part of a special drive undertaken by the Delhi Metro to retrofit and upgrade to modern standards all 70 trains which were procured by the urban transporter between 2002 and 2007, and the plan is to complete refurbishment of the first set of 10 trains by September next year, a senior official said.

Vrindavan: 4 European tourists test COVID positive; Giridhar Ashram declared containment zone

A 41-year-old woman from Austria on a visit to the holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh has tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of infected foreigners in Mathura district to four, officials said on Monday. Commenting on the situation, Dr. Bhudeo Singh, the in-charge of the Rapid Response Team said, "In RT-PCR test one more foreign national was found to be coronavirus positive on Monday."

COVID-19: Bengaluru airport authorities intensify testings; 7-day quarantine mandated

Kerala clocks 3,382 new COVID-19 cases, 117 deaths

Fresh COVID-19 cases dropped to 3,382 in Kerala on Monday, raising the total caseload to 51,25,262. The state also recorded 117 deaths which raised the toll to 39,955, an official release said. Kerala had logged 4,350 cases on November 28.
