Lakhimpur Kheri violence: 8 witnesses want security removed

In an interesting development, eight of the 90 key witnesses in the Lakhimpur Kheri case in which Ashish Misra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Misra Teni, is the main accused, want their police security removed. These witnesses have written to the local administration in this regard.

Jodhpur confirms 2 cases of bird flu after over 180 Kurja birds found dead

Jodhpur district of Rajasthan has confirmed two cases of bird flu. The development comes after more than 180 Kurja birds (cranes) were found dead in the district over the past week. As per Ramesh Kumar Malpani, Divisional Forest Officer, Jodhpur, two cases of bird flu have been confirmed from the samples collected from the dead birds.

Delhi's air quality marginally improves to 'very poor'; mercury drops to 11.6 deg Celcius

Delhi's air quality on Sunday improved marginally as the air quality in the national capital reached the 'very poor' category with Air Quality Index (AQI) at 386 (overall), according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Meanwhile, the pollution level in the National Capital Region (NCR), especially Noida and Gurugram, also remained worrisome. Noida reported AQI in the 'hazardous' category at 536, while the air quality in Gurugram was at the upper end of the 'severe' category at 423.

Lucknow authorities to set up containment zones for Zika virus patients

In order to check the spread of Zika virus in Lucknow, the authorities have decided to set up containment zones around the houses of patients. According to the details, the patient will be kept in home isolation and a containment zone up to 400 metres around the house will be set up.

Maharashtra: Four-day curfew in Amravati, internet shut down as fresh violence erupts

Internet services were shut down and a four-day curfew was imposed on Saturday in Maharashtra's Amravati city which witnessed fresh violence during a Bandh, a senior police official said. A mob hurled stones at shops during the Bandh (shut-down) allegedly organised by local BJP workers in protest against the rallies organized by Muslim organizations the day before to condemn the recent violence in Tripura, police said.
