Maharashtra minister and national spokesperson of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Nawab Malik on Sunday alleged that Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede was part of a plot to "kidnap" Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Maharashtra hospital fire: Several COVID patients died of smoke, some of burns, say police

A day after a major fire at the ICU of a civil hospital in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district killed 11 people, it has emerged that some of the victims died due to smoke that engulfed the ward following the blaze, according to a police official. The blaze erupted around 11 am on Saturday in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward where 17 COVID-19 patients, many of them senior citizens and some on ventilator or oxygen, were undergoing treatment at the hospital in Ahmednagar, located 120 km from Pune and 253 km from Mumbai.

Sameer Wankhede's father files Rs 1.25 crore defamation suit against Nawab Malik

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's father, Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede has filed a defamation suit against Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik. The father of the NCB officer has moved to the Bombay high court saying recent statements by the NCP leader have defamed his family.

Zika virus case reported from UP's Kannauj; infection tally in state crosses 80

India logs fresh 10,853 COVID cases, over 12,000 recoveries in 24 hours; active cases decline to 1.44 lakh

India recorded 10,853 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 526 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, the country saw a total of 12,432 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.24 per cent which is the highest since March 2020 and total recoveries data reached 3,37,49,900.
