Attack on Buddhist monastery in Bangladesh triggers protest in Tripura

Members of five tribal organisations of Tripura held a protest on Monday in front of Bangladesh Assistant High Commission here condemning the attack and torching of the Katakhali Forest Buddhist Monastery under Teknaf in Cox's Bazar district in the neighbouring country.

Ex-Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh arrested by ED after over 12 hrs questioning

After over 12 hours of questioning in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged extortion racket in the state police establishment, former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) late Monday. Officials said Deshmukh was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). They claimed the senior NCP leader was evasive during questioning and the agency will seek his custody after they produce him before a local court on Tuesday.
