India records 18,132 new Covid cases, 193 deaths in a day; positivity rate slips below 1%

India on Monday saw a decline in its daily Covid-19 cases as per the daily data by the Union ministry of health. India reported as many as 18,132 new Covid cases in 24 hours. While in the last 24 hours, India reported 193 deaths, taking the toll to 3,39,71,607.

'China wasn't agreeable & couldn't provide forward-looking proposals': Army says LAC talks end in stalemate

The 13th round of talks between Indian and Chinese military commanders over the standoff in Eastern Ladakh on Sunday didn't produce any resolution of the remaining issues, said the Indian Army on Monday. The Army said that the Chinese side was not "agreeable" and "could not provide any forward-looking proposals".

Lakhimpur Kheri LIVE Updates: Maharashtra Bandh today; SKM warns of protests if Ashish Mishra not sacked

Demanding the Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra be sacked and arrested in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has warned the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government of phase-wise protests, if the demands are not met by today (October 11). Ashish Mishra, who was arrested late on Saturday, was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and placed under COVID quarantine in the district jail in Lakhimpur Kheri. The violence in Lakhimpur had resulted in the death of eight people, who the farmers said were allegedly knocked down by a vehicle carrying BJP workers. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cabinet on Wednesday expressed regret over the death of farmers in the incident, while the ruling allies have called for a statewide bandh today. Several trade organisations in Pune have expressed support for Monday's Maharashtra bandh.
