Bengal bypolls: Nusrat Jahan, Babul Supriyo not on TMC's campaigners' list; Mamata Banerjee to lead

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee are among the star campaigners of the party for the October 30 bypolls to four Assembly seats in the state, but interestingly, the names of actor-turned-MP Nusrat Jahan and former BJP leader Babul Supriyo, who recently joined the TMC camp, do not feature in the list.

Targeted killings in Kashmir: Amit Shah, LG Manoj Sinha likely to hold discussions in Delhi

In the wake of targeted killings in Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha are likely to discuss the issue on Saturday, government sources said. The meeting is expected to take place in the second half of the day in which the Home Minister along with the J-K LG will discuss security scenarios and other issues linked to the spate of crime against innocent people in the Valley where a principal and a teacher of a government school were killed by terrorists on Thursday, the latest in a spate of targeted killings in the Kashmir valley.

Lakhimpur Kheri Violence LIVE UPDATES: SKM rejects UP govt SIT; threatens 'rail roko' on Oct 18

Rejecting the SIT and the inquiry commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the SKM on Friday said that it will call for a nationwide 'rail roko' protest on October 18 if its demands are not fulfilled. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has been demanding that Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra be sacked and his son Ashish Mishra arrested in connection with the October 3 violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.
