Lakhimpur Kheri Violence LIVE UPDATES: SKM rejects UP govt SIT; threatens 'rail roko' on Oct 18

Rejecting the SIT and the inquiry commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the SKM on Friday said that it will call for a nationwide 'rail roko' protest on October 18 if its demands are not fulfilled. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has been demanding that Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Mishra be sacked and his son Ashish Mishra arrested in connection with the October 3 violence in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Lakhimpur Kheri violence: SC says "not satisfied" with UP govt actions; new summon for minister's son

The Supreme Court said that it was "not satisfied" with the Uttar Pradesh government's steps in the “brutal” killing of eight people in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. The top court pulled up the state police and asked them whether issuing summons and asking "please come" would be the way the accused are treated in other murder cases.
