VP Venkaiah Naidu launches Elderly Line 14567, SACRED portal for senior citizens

A National Helpline for senior citizens was launched at the Vigyan Bhawan on Friday by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Named the 'Elder Line' at 14567, the helpline was set up by the government of India in collaboration with Tata trust and will function 12 hours a day to resolve the grievances of senior citizens from across the country. Naidu also launched the Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED) portal to connect senior citizens with job providers in the private sector.

Nagaland issues COVID-19 guidelines in wake of Durga Puja celebrations

The Nagaland government on Friday permitted the celebration of Durga Puja in marquees outside containment zones and issued a series of safety guidelines to prevent COVID transmission in the pandals. The order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Abhijit Sinha said that people can visit marquees only between 5 AM and 9 PM.

Delhi: 53 African nationals held for vandalising police station, attacking cops

Fifty-three African nationals were arrested for allegedly creating a ruckus outside a police station in southwest Delhi and attacking personnel, police said on Friday. The incident took place on the night of September 26. According to the police, an African man died under mysterious circumstances at a hospital here, following which doctors asked his friends to inform the police.
