Delhi: Senior nursing officers at private health facilities for COVID-19 to be repatriated

The Delhi government has directed that all senior nursing officers, who were posted in private hospitals for monitoring COVID-19 patients, be sent back to their parent hospitals. "The competent authority is pleased to repatriate all senior Nursing Officers... who were posted as Nodal Officer in various private health care facilities from Delhi Govt. Hospitals to monitor the management of COVID-19 patients along with monitoring the Covid vaccination... to their parent hospitals," the order that was issued last week said.

Telangana: Accused in minor rape, murder case found dead on rail track

A man wanted in the case of the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Hyderabad was found dead on a railway track in Jangaon district on Thursday, Telangana Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy tweeted. The accused was identified after the verification of identification marks on the body, he said.

Delhi: 5 cases of gallbladder gangrene reported after COVID-19 recovery

Five patients developed gallbladder gangrene after recovering from COVID-19, with doctors at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital saying that it is the first report of such cases in India. The five patients were successfully treated at the hospital between June and August. Dr. Anil Arora, Chairman of the Institute of Liver, Gastroenterology and Pancreaticobiliary Sciences at the hospital, said, “We successfully treated five such patients between June and August. After recovering from COVID-19, these patients presented with severe inflammation of gallbladder without gallstones resulting in gangrene of gallbladder requiring urgent surgery.”

Delhi: Fire breaks out at factory in Mayapuri Phase-2 area; efforts to douse flames underway

UP becomes first state to administer over 9 crore COVID vaccines

Uttar Pradesh has become the first Indian state to inoculate more than nine crore people with COVID vaccines. The state has administered a total of 9.01 crore vaccine doses so far since the launch of the nationwide COVID vaccination drive in January, said the official spokesman on Thursday. The state administered over 3,61,787 doses of vaccine till late on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 9,01,51,915.
