The Congress will prepare a plan for nationwide agitations to take on the BJP government ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections and highlight issues of price rise and unemployment among others, sources said on Tuesday. It was also suggested that party leader Rahul Gandhi should take over as the Congress president and lead the agitations, they added.

UP: Prayagraj reports 97 dengue cases; viral fever in Firozabad claims 60 lives so far

Amid the outbreak of dengue in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Medical Officer of Prayagraj district, Nanak Saran on Tuesday informed that the district has reported 97 cases of dengue so far. Out of these 97 cases, around nine dengue patients are admitted to hospitals at present. Talking to reporters, Saran said, "The cases are likely to increase in the city because they are increasing in the whole state."

Sukhbir Singh, Harsimrat Kaur Badal urge farmers to join protest march on Sept 17

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday urged farmers agitating against the three central farm laws to participate in a protest march in Delhi on September 17. The Shiromani Akali Dal had announced to observe September 17 as "black day" on the completion of one year of the enactment of the three laws. The SAD workers would also take out a protest march from Gurdwara Rakabganj to Parliament demanding repeal of the three laws.

Bengal: Child dies due to pneumonia; 88 others hospitalised with high fever, diarrhoea

One child died due to pneumonia and pleural effusion while 88 others are being treated for high fever and diarrhoea at a state-run hospital in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday, a senior official at the medical establishment said. While 42 children were discharged from Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital, blood samples were sent for tests to find out whether they were suffering from Chikungunya, Dengue, Scrub Typhus, or Japanese Encephalitis.
