AAP to launch 'Tiranga Yatra' in Ayodhya today

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh will kick-start their fourth 'Tiranga Yatra] in Ayodhya on Tuesday. The party, which has declared its intention to contest all seats in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 2022 on its own, said that the Ayodhya leg of its campaign would be a challenge to the BJP on its divisive politics, since the Tricolour symbolises unity in the face of communalism.

Odisha: 6 coaches of goods train derail, fall into river; East Coast Railways route affected

At least six coaches of a goods train running on the Angul-Talcher Road route of East Coast Railways derailed in the early hours of Tuesday and fell into a river, officials said. Six coaches of the train carrying wheat plunged into the river around 2.30 am, but the loco pilot and other staff were reported to be safe as the engine remained on the track, they said.

Western Ghats to get heavy rain; scattered showers in few Tamil Nadu districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the Western Ghats will get heavy rainfall in the next few days and that the districts of Tamil Nadu adjoining the Ghats will get scattered rain for the next two to three days. Heavy rain may occur in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, and Dindugal for two days, according to the IMD prediction for the week that was released on Monday. Thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to lash these districts in the next couple of days, the weathermen have predicted.

MP: 1 more cop suspended after tribal man's custodial death; action against 6 officials so far

The Madhya Pradesh government has suspended one more senior police official for alleged negligence in connection with the death of a 35-year-old tribal man in judicial custody in Khargone district. After the death of the man, identified as Bisan, last week following his arrest by Bistan police in Khargone in connection with a dacoity incident, the state government had suspended four policemen and the district jail superintendent. Later on Sunday, Khargone's Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chouhan was also transferred.

Allahabad HC notice to UP govt on plea challenging constitutional validity of religious conversion

The Allahabad High Court has issued notice on a plea challenging the Constitutional validity of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. A bench led by acting Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari on Monday tagged the plea with other pending petitions and listed it after three weeks. Two public interest litigations were already filed against the conversion law. All the petitions, including the new one, are now expected to be heard in the next hearing.

India logs 25,404 fresh Covid-19 cases, 339 deaths in last 24 hours

India recorded 25,404 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 339 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, the country saw a total of 37,127 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.54 per cent and total recoveries to 3,24,84,159.
