71 pc of children have developed antibodies, won't be affected during COVID third wave: PGIMER Director

A serosurvey which was conducted by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh has shown 71 per cent of children samples have developed antibodies, PGIMER Director Dr Jagat Ram said on Monday. The serosurvey was conducted among 2,700 children. Commenting on the survey, Dr Jagat Ram said, "We're at the beginning of the 3rd wave of COVID-19 pandemic. A serosurvey conducted by PGIMER, Chandigarh among 2700 children shows 71 per cent of them have developed antibodies. It shows children won't be affected disproportionately during the third wave."

Bengal: 130 children hospitalised with high fever, dysentery in Jalpaiguri

At least 130 children were admitted to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital with high fever and dysentery, a health department official said on Monday. Two of them were later shifted to North Bengal Medical College as their condition worsened, he said. The development comes amid warning by experts that the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic might pose a greater risk to children.

US in touch with India regarding 'over-the-horizon' support: Antony Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured that the United States is in touch with India regarding the over-the-horizon capabilities and plans. In the aftermath of the Afghanistan withdrawal and evacuation, the White House has promised the American people an "over-the-horizon" strategy to fight any transnational terrorism threats emanating from Afghanistan.  When asked whether the Biden administration has reached out to India as a possible staging area for future over the horizon forces capabilities, Blinken said that the Biden administration is deeply engaged with India.
