Ambala-Kotputli expressway likely to open for public by March 2022

The 313-km long Ambala-Kotputli highway is scheduled to open to the public by March 2022 as 80 per cent of the corridor is complete, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Monday.

Kashmir Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani buried

Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was buried late in the night, the Kashmir Zone Police informed on Monday. After his death, his family and next of kin were approached by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar along with SP & ASP. They met both of Geelani's sons at their residence at 11pm, condoled them & requested for burial in the night for larger interest of general public due to potential major law and order situation in the state.

Ahead of MCD polls, Delhi BJP promises to arrange free pilgrimages every month

Ahead of the MCD polls early next year, the Delhi BJP has promised to send people in the city to Hindu pilgrim sites. Delhi BJP general secretary (organisation) Siddhartha had said on Sunday that party workers in each mandal (ward) would arrange free pilgrimages every month.

Firozabad: Major death cases among children due to dengue, Central team finds out

Central team sent to Firozabad to investigate the cause of fever outbreaks and deaths among children has found that the majority of cases are due to dengue, along with few cases of scrub typhus and leptospirosis, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday. In a letter to UP chief secretary, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the Central team comprising of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) officials have "observed that the majority of cases are due to Dengue, while a few are because of Scrub Typhus and Leptospirosis."

BJP MLA says party made mistake by inducting TMC leaders before polls

With four BJP MLAs returning to the Trinamool Congress in four months, the saffron party's Cooch Behar South legislator Nikhil Ranjan Dey on Monday said the top leadership had erred by inducting TMC leaders into the BJP before the assembly polls in West Bengal. The party would have fared better had they been not taken into the party fold, Dey claimed.
