Two persons were killed and four were missing in separate incidents in Telangana as heavy rains continue to lash parts of Telangana. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rains at few places in the state on Monday and Tuesday. Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtiyal, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Janagaon, Ydadari Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool district, it said.

Nipah Virus: Kerala Health department to strengthen contact tracing, find source of infection
Stressing that the Health department's priority is to strengthen contact tracing and determine the source of infection, Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Monday said there are chances that the 12-year old boy who succumbed to Nipah may have come in contact with more number of people. George, who met the media here, said the samples of seven people among the 20 high-risk contacts of the child have been sent to the Pune NIV for testing. The child succumbed to Nipah virus early Sunday morning.

Mega vaccination drive in Lucknow today; 1 lakh inoculations on target
Lucknow will carry out a mega vaccination drive on Monday with the aim of vaccinating one lakh people. This will be the highest inoculations in a single day since the start of the mass immunisation campaign in January this year. The record so far is 93,436 vaccinations on August 27.According to District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash, the drive will be carried out at 160 vaccination centres.

India logs 38,948 fresh Covid-19 cases, 219 deaths in last 24 hours, active cases drop to 4,04,874
India recorded 38,948 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 219 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, the country saw a total of 43,903 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.42 per cent and total recoveries to 3,21,81,995.
