World Bank considers giving loan to Bengal for social welfare schemes

The World Bank is considering approving a loan of 125 million dollars to the West Bengal government to help its efforts to strengthen and empower the vulnerable groups of society. To avail of the loan the state government will have to engage an Independent Verification Agency (IVA) that will verify the Disbursement Linked Results (DLR).

Approach authorities first: Delhi HC tells resident seeking potable water

The Delhi High Court has refused to entertain a public interest litigation seeking basic various amenities such as potable water, sewage lines and plantations of trees in a locality here, saying such grievances have to be first raised before the authorities concerned. A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh granted liberty to the petitioner, a resident of the locality, to prefer a representation to the authorities, detailing the “exact grievances including suggestions, if any”.

Declare Batala 24th district of Punjab: Ministers to Amarinder

Two senior Punjab ministers -- Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa -- have demanded that Batala should be created as 24th district of the state to honour the wish of the people and overall development of this area. In a letter to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, they underscored that Batala was a historic town but did not get the focus it deserved. The two ministers said along with this the historic towns of Fatehgarh Churian and Hargobindpur or Ghuman should be made new sub-divisions of the new district.

26 govt officials helped Vikas Dubey for arms licences, fair price shop permits, reveals probe
