Supertech case: Day after SC verdict, CM Yogi Adityanath orders strict action against Noida officials

Day after the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of the 40-storey twin towers being constructed in Noida's Sector 93A, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed to take strict action against Noida Authority officials involved with the construction of the twin towers. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of Supertech Ltd's twin 40-storey towers under construction in Noida, within three months for violation of building norms in "collusion” with district officials, holding that illegal construction has to be dealt with strictly to ensure compliance with the rule of law.

India's pollution level expanded; can cut life expectancy by over 9 years: US study

Life expectancy of nearly 40 per cent of Indians can be cut down by more than nine years, due to air pollution. According to a report released by a US research group on Wednesday, more than 480 million people living in the vast swathes of central, eastern and northern India, including New Delhi, endure significantly high pollution levels.

India logs 41,965 fresh COVID cases, over 33,000 recoveries in 24 hours; active cases rise to 3.78 lakh

India recorded 41,965 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 460 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, the country saw a total of 33,964 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.53 per cent and total recoveries to 3,19,93,644.
