UNSC resolution on Afghanistan addresses India's concerns

The United Nations Security Council resolution on Afghanistan addresses India's key concerns relating to the country following its takeover by the Taliban, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday. The UN Security Council, under India's presidency, on Monday adopted a resolution demanding that the territory of Afghanistan should not be used to threaten any country or shelter terrorists.

New IT Rules prevent fake news, misuse of freedom of press: Centre tells HC

The Centre has defended the legality of the new Information Technology (IT) Rules before the Delhi High Court, saying that the rules seek to “prevent the misuse of the freedom of press” and protect the citizens from fake news in digital media space which used to be largely unregulated. The Centre, in its counter affidavit filed on a challenge to the constitutional validity of the new IT Rules, has submitted that although the right to freedom of speech and expression, including the freedom of the press, is critical for a vibrant democracy like India, citizens “cannot be treated as passive consumers.”

Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, UP sign pact for seamless movement of passenger vehicles in NCR

There will be a single-point taxation system for taxis, autorickshaws and state-run buses in Delhi-NCR, with Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh signing an agreement for seamless movement of passenger vehicles in the region, a statement said. However, the NCR Planning Board, which held its meeting on Tuesday, deferred its approval on the draft Regional Plan-2041 and asked NCR states to submit their comments about it in the next board meeting.

Nearly 100 dengue cases in Delhi this year; 45 reported in August alone

At least 97 cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital this year, according to a civic report released on Monday. The number of dengue cases for the January 1-August 28 period is also the highest this year since 2018 when the count had stood at 107 in the same duration.
