COVID cases in some states showing early signs of third wave: ICMR

States that did not face an intense second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic are now showing early signs of the third wave with the increasing trend of COVID-19 cases, Dr. Samiran Panda, the head of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Monday. Panda further said it is important to not talk of India as a whole and to instead take a state-specific view when talking about COVID-19 because all the states are not homogenous.

India logs 30,941 fresh Covid-19 cases, 350 deaths in 24 hours; active cases drop to 3,70,640

India recorded 30,941 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 350 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, the country saw a total of 36,275 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.51 per cent and total recoveries to 3,19,59,680.

UP's Firozabad reports 40 dengue deaths in a week; schools closed till Sept 6

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday visited some dengue patients in the Firozabad district where around 40 people, mostly children, have died in a week and said teams will be formed to ascertain the cause of the deaths. Commenting on the situation, chief minister Yogi Aditynath said, "Till now, 32 children and seven adults have died," adding instructions have been issued to officials to ensure treatment of every patient at government hospitals."
