Active wet spell likely in rain-deficient Gujarat over 5 days: IMD

Gujarat is very likely to experience an "active wet spell" during the next five days, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday, signalling possible respite for a state that has recorded rainfall 50 per cent below normal this season.

Lathicharge on Haryana farmers akin to second Jallianwala Bagh; Khattar govt must go: Sena

The Shiv Sena on Monday termed as the "second Jallianwala Bagh" the lathicharge on farmers by the police in Haryana and said the ML Khattar government has no right to remain in power anymore. An editorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was inaugurating the renovated Jallianwala Bagh complex in Amritsar, a second Jallianwala Bagh was happening in Haryana.

COVID-19 has devastated many lives and it is “heart wrenching” that the survival of children who lost either or both parents during the pandemic is at stake, the Supreme Court said, but expressed satisfaction over schemes announced by the Centre and states to provide succour to them. The apex court said that “satisfactory progress” has been made by the Executive in identifying children who have either become orphans or have lost one of their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
