Punjab Congress infighting: Pargat Singh questions Harish Rawat's 'polls under Amarinder' remark

Ahead of Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat's visit to Punjab to de-escalate tension between the two factions, the Navjot Singh Sidhu's camp has opened a front against Rawat and challenged his statement on Amarinder. In a statement, Punjab Congress General Secretary Pargat Singh had posed a challenge that Harish Rawat should tell when it was decided that Punjab elections will be fought under the leadership of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

6 Bengal districts record no Covid death in last one month

When the effect of the third wave is explicitly prominent in several states of the country, West Bengal in the last four weeks has recorded only 262 deaths at an average of 9.3 deaths per day in the state with 6 of the total 23 districts recording no deaths and 4 other districts reporting less than five deaths since the beginning of this month.

Uttarakhand: Three houses collapse in Dharchula after heavy rains; 2 killed

Two people were killed and several others went missing after three houses collapsed in a village following heavy rains in Dharchula sub-division of the district, an official said on Monday. India reports 42,909 fresh Covid-19 cases, 380 deaths in 24 hours, recovery rate at 97.53%

India recorded 42,909 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 380 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Monday, the country saw a total of 34,763 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.53 per cent and total recoveries to 3,19,23,405.

UP govt announces 2-day relief from night curfew in wake of Janmashtami

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced relaxation in night curfew on Monday and Tuesday across the state, in view of the Janmashtami festival. The government had lifted all curbs barring the night curfew which remains in force between 10 pm and 6 am. Additional Chief Secretary (home) Avanish Awasthi told reporters that the festival of Janmashtami would be celebrated across the state, including all police lines and jails, with full enthusiasm and vigour as per the tradition.
