PM Modi extends greetings on occasion of Janmashtami

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took to Twitter to extend warm wishes on the occassion of Jansmashtami. He wrote, "Greetings to you all on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami". Janmashtami is celebrated across the country to mark the birth of Lord Krishna who is believed to have been born on this day.

Maharashtra: 18 inmates test Covid positive at children's home in Mankhurd

As many as 18 children tested positive for COVID-19 at a children's home in Maharashtra's Mankhurd, an eastern suburb of Mumbai. They were found infected with the virus in three days, a civic official said on Sunday. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), all children have been shifted to an isolation ward at a COVID centre in Vashi Naka.

Security situation in Kashmir under control, says Indian Army in wake of Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan

The Army on Sunday said the security situation in the Kashmir valley is under control and there is nothing to worry about the fallout of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. The General Officer Commanding of the Army's 15 Corps, also known as the Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General DP Pandey, said this to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar.

Flood condition worsens in Assam, over 2.58 lakh hit

The flood situation in Assam worsened on Sunday with over 2.58 lakh people affected across 14 districts, an official bulletin said. According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 2,58,100 persons were affected by floods in Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tinsukia districts.

Haryana govt assures all possible help to Afghan students

The Haryana government on Sunday assured all possible help to the Afghan students in the state, with Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala saying necessary instructions in this regard have also been conveyed to vice-chancellors of universities. Replying to a question on the volatile situation prevailing in Afghanistan, Chautala said the students from the country will not face any problem related to studies, food or accommodation in Haryana.
