Neelanurinkji flowers blossom in Idukki's Shantanpara Shalom Hills after 12 years

Idukki's Shalomkunnu (Shalom hills ) under the Santhanpara Panchayat are blossoming with the blue Neelakurinji flowers, which blooms once every 12 years.

COVID-19: Kerala records 20,728 fresh infections, 56 deaths

Kerala recorded 20,728 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday, pushing the infection caseload to 34,11,489, while 56 more deaths took the toll to 16,837. It is for the sixth day running that the state has recorded more than 20,000 fresh cases. Since July 27 there have been 1,28,373 more infections in the state.

UP bans Muharram processions in new COVID curbs; Shia clerics oppose guidelines

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh police have said religious processions during Muharram will not be allowed in the state this year. UP Directorate General of Police (DGP), Mukul Goel released a new set of guidelines for the state on Sunday, which stated Muharram should be observed with COVID appropriate behaviour. The DGP said Muharram observers should keep in mind all COVID protocols and practice social distancing.

Indore: Cinema Halls, Multiplex remain shut despite permission to reopen

The Indore district administration recently gave a green flag for multiplexes in the city to resume operation. Despite being permitted to reopen, cinema halls and multiplexes remained shut. As no new Bollywood films have been released recently, people are not turning up at cinema halls. This is one of the reasons why six multiplexes and five single screens in the city are closed.

Border row: Assam CM directs withdrawal of FIR against Mizoram MP as goodwill gesture

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said he has directed state police to withdraw FIR against Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena as a "goodwill gesture" after border clash with Mizoram on July 26 in which six police personnel died. However, he further said that cases against the other police officers will be pursued.
