SJTA to decide on reopening of Jagannath temple at August 4 meeting

With the Odisha government allowing the reopening of religious institutions with appropriate COVID restrictions from Sunday as part of its Unlock process, all eyes are now set on the August 4 meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) when the body will decide on the reopening of the 12th century shrine in Puri.

Over 49 crore vaccine doses given to states, 3 crore still unutilised, says Centre

Asserting its commitment to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country, the Centre on Sunday said that over 49.49 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territories so far and a further 8,04,220 are in the pipeline.

Delhi govt reserves 20% doses of Covishield, 40% doses of Covaxin for 1st shot

The Delhi health department on Sunday issued fresh orders asking district authorities to restrict 20 per cent doses of Covishield and 40 per cent doses of Covaxin for the first shot, officials said. The remaining doses will be reserved for the second shot till the supply situation improves, an official said.

Odisha: COVID-19 lockdown relaxations from today, night curfew to continue

The Odisha state government has issued guidelines for the month of August wherein some relaxations will be imposed, while a statewide night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am will continue. These guidelines are released considering the current COVID-19 situation in different districts of the state. These guidelines have come into effect from 6 am today and will remain in force till 6 am of September 1.

India reports 41,831 new COVID cases, 541 deaths in past 24 hours

India recorded 41,831 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 541 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, the country saw a total of 39,258 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 3,08,20,521. The active cases of COVID-19 in India are now at 4,10,952, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 4,24,351.

Meerut woman defeats Covid; discharged from hospital after 100-day battle

The second wave of COVID-19 hit the country in April this year, affecting several lives and proving to be more lethal than the first.
