Gujarat has controlled second wave of COVID-19 pandemic: CM Vijay Rupani

The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has come under control in Gujarat though the threat of coronavirus remains, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Tuesday, a day after the state reported less than 100 fresh cases in a day after a gap of 14 months. In a virtual address, the CM said the fight against the pandemic is still on as coronavirus is still around.

Severe heat wave scorches Delhi; mercury soars to year's highest

As the monsoon continued to play truant, a severe heat wave scorched parts of Delhi on Tuesday with the maximum temperature at Safdarjung Observatory, considered the official marker for the city, rising to 43 degrees Celsius, the highest this year so far. This is the first heat wave in Delhi this summer season, according to the India Meteorological Department.

All higher education students will be vaccinated within 10 days: Karnataka Deputy CM

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Tuesday said all students studying in various higher education courses will be vaccinated within 10 days. This includes students of polytechnics, ITI, degree, engineering, medical, paramedical, diploma, those studying in university campuses and students registered under Chief Minister's skill development scheme, the DCM was quoted as saying by his office in a release.

Drones controlled from across border; RDX likely used in Jammu IAF station blast: Sources

The drones used in the blast at Jammu Indian Air Force (IAF) station were controlled from across the border, sources said. They added that a special bomb squad team of the National Security Guard (NSG) is investigating the nature of the blast at the IAF station that left two officials injured. RDX or TNT is likely to be used in the blast, sources said. Besides, the involvement of local handlers is also being investigated.

Kolkata vaccine scams: Two more arrested in dubious Covid vaccine camps

Two more persons were arrested in connection with the dubious COVID vaccination camps case in Kolkata, a police officer said on Tuesday. With the latest arrests, the Kolkata Police has so far nabbed six persons in the case, including fake IAS officer Debanjan Deb who masterminded the dubious COVID vaccination camps in the city, he said. "In a raid on Monday night, we picked up Deb's cousin from the Naktala area and another 52-year-old man from the northern part of the city. Both were actively involved with Deb," the officer said.
