Kanwar Yatra cancelled for second year in row

The Uttarakhand government has cancelled the annual Kanwar Yatra in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Kanwariyas (devotees of Loed Shiv) converge at Haridwar to carry water from the river Ganga to offer at Shiv temples in their respective areas.

Jammu IAF station drone attack: Govt hands over probe to NIA

The government on Tuesday handed over the probe into the drone attack on the Jammu air force station to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Explosives were dropped on the Indian Air Force station in Jammu by two drones in the early hours of Sunday, injuring two personnel.

Security personnel on high alert as three more suspected drones seen in Jammu

Three suspected drones were spotted again at three different locations in Jammu on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. According to locals, the first drone was seen in Kaluchak cantonment area. The second was spotted in Ratnuchak cantonment area and the third in Kunjwani area.

Delhi witnesses scorching heat as mercury soars past 42° C; no respite in coming days

Delhi on Monday witnessed scorching heat as the mercury crossed the 42-degree mark in parts of the capital. According to the Met officials, no relief from heat is on forecast in the next 48 hours and the maximum temperature is expected to cross 43 degrees. High humidity was a factor at present and temperature was gradually rising once again after the withdrawal of a western disturbance, Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist at IMD, said.

India logs 37,566 new COVID cases, 907 deaths; active cases now at 5,52,659

India recorded 37,566 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 907 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, the country saw a total of 56,994 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,93,66,601. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 3,03,16,897 with 5,52,659 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 3,97,637.

Narada case: Mamata Banerjee files fresh affidavit in Calcutta High Court

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday filed a fresh affidavit in Calcutta High court in the Narada case as directed by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Friday asked the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Law Minister Moloy Ghatak and the State government to approach the Calcutta High Court with their application to take on record their affidavits over allegations about their role on the day of the arrest of Trinamool Congress leaders by the CBI in the Narada scam case.

Uttarakhand govt issues guidelines for Char Dham Yatra despite HC's stay on pilgrimage
