Uttar Pradesh: 4 killed, 11 injured in bus accident in Agra

At least four people were killed and 11 others injured when a bus rammed into a stationary canter on National Highway-2 at Chhalesar flyover here on Thursday morning, police said. The incident took place around 4:30 am under Etmadpur police station. The Uttar Pradesh roadways bus was going to Agra bus station from Kanpur, they said.

India logs 94,052 new COVID cases, 1.51 lakh recoveries in past 24 hours

India on Thursday recorded 94,052 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 6,148 deaths due to the infection. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 1,51,367 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,76,55,493. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 2,91,83,121, with 11,67,952 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 3,59,676. A total of 23,90,58,360 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.

Visva-Bharati VC makes unsavoury comments on teachers in purported audio clip

An audio clip has surfaced on social media in which Visva-Bharati university Vice-Chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty is purportedly heard making some unsavoury comments against a section of the faculty during a virtual meeting. While the authenticity of the audio clip could not be verified, the Visva Bharati University Faculty Association (VBUFA) demanded that Chakraborty apologise for his alleged comments against some faculty members who belong to a particular organisation. The authorities of the central university were not available for comments.
