IMD predicts widespread rains in East, Northeast India as Southwest Monsoon advances further

The India Metrological Department (IMD) on Sunday informed that the southwest monsoon has further advanced into the central Arabian Sea, covering several parts of the country, including the entire northeastern region. According to the weather department, the southwest monsoon has also advanced in some more parts of Maharashtra, entire Karnataka, some more parts of Telangana, entire Tamil Nadu, some more parts of Andhra Pradesh, more parts of central Bay of Bengal and northeast, Bay of Bengal, and then entire northeastern states of India--Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, most parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Uttarakhand lockdown restrictions extended till June 15. Check new guidelines

The Uttarakhand government on Sunday extended COVID-19 restrictions in the state till June 15. As per new lockdown guidelines, general stores will remain open from 8 am to 1 pm between June 9 and June 14. Within this week as compared to earlier, the government has increased the scope of the exemption. It has been decided to open retail shops for two days in this week, the liquor shops will be opened for three 3 days, according to the order.

Antigua police probing Mehul Choksi's 'abduction' claim: PM Gaston Browne

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has started investigations into the alleged abduction of absconding diamantaire Mehul Choksi to neighbouring Dominica on a complaint filed by his lawyers, Prime Minister Gaston Browne told a local media outlet. Browne said that Choksi's lawyers gave the names of people involved in the alleged abduction to the police commissioner in a complaint, the Antigua News Room reported.

Mumbai: One killed, 4 injured as part of building collapses in Bandra

At least one person died while four others injured after a part of a four-storey building collapsed in Bandra area of Mumbai on Monday. "One person has been killed in the incident. Injured have been sent to nearby hospitals. There are no serious injuries," Bandra MLA Zeeshan Siddique said on Monday.

Mumbai Unlock: BEST buses to resume local bus service from today

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) on Sunday informed that the local bus service will resume in Mumbai from Monday onwards. The decision has been taken following the 5-step unlock which is currently in process in the Maharashtra capital city. "The number of passengers will not be more than the total number of seats in any bus and wearing of face mask will be mandatory for every passenger," said the BEST.

Delhi Unlock: Metro resumes services after nearly 3 weeks with 50 % capacity

The Delhi Metro resumed services on Monday after a hiatus of nearly three weeks in view of the improved Covid situation in the national capital, but with 50 per cent seating capacity and no provision for standing travel for commuters, officials said. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) services were fully suspended since May 20 in view of the Covid-induced lockdown, which was first imposed on April 19 and then successively extended by the city government.
