Uttar Pradesh varsities to promote all first-year students

All first-year students in undergraduate and postgraduate classes in the Uttar Pradesh universities will be promoted to the second year. Students in the final year of various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in UP universities will be assessed through an examination before they receive their degrees. These recommendations have been made by the three-member committee instituted to work out the modalities of promoting students.

Army renovates old Shiv temple in J&K's Gulmarg, reopened for public

The Army has renovated the famous Shiv temple at the ski-resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir and re-opened it for the public on Tuesday. The temple, built in 1915, is also famous for featuring in Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz's hit number “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar” from the movie 'Aap Ki Kasam'.

Delhi's records minimum temperature of 22.2 deg C, light rains likely

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the normal, on Wednesday morning while light rain is likely during the day, the India Meteorological Department said. The national capital on Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 17.6 degrees Celsius. It was 10 degrees below the normal and the lowest ever for the month of June, primarily due to rainfall, thunderstorm and gusty winds under the influence of a western disturbance.

Black Fungus claims 17 lives in Nagpur in 48 hours, 51 new cases reported

At least 17 people have lost their lives in Nagpur due to Black Fungs or Mucormycosis in the last 48 hours while 51 new cases have been reported. Overall, 108 patients have succumbed to the infection in the six districts of the Vidarbha region of which 102 alone died in Nagpur.

India logs 1.32 lakh new COVID cases; 2,31,456 recoveries in 24 hours

India on Wednesday recorded 1,32,788 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 3,207 deaths due to the infection. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 2,31,456 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,83,07,832. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 2,83,07,832, with 17,93,645 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 3,35,102. A total of 21,85,46,667 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.
