Supreme Court to pronounce verdict on Election Commission's plea against Madras HC remarks

The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on the Election Commission's plea against Madras High Court remarks holding its officials responsible for the surge in Covid-19 cases and fastening them with murder charges. The court had also said that it will not restrain the media from reporting oral observations made during proceedings in public interest.

India reports 4,12,262 new Covid-19 cases, 3,980 deaths in 24 hours, both highest so far

India on Thursday reported 4,12,262 new Covid-19 cases and 3,980 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country's tally has now surged past the 2.1 crore mark. Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (920), followed by Uttar Pradesh with 353 deaths.
