Kolkata: BJP claims police dismantled stage for JP Nadda's dharna near party office

The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Kolkata Police dismantled the stage set up near the party's West Bengal headquarters in Kolkata where JP Nadda and other senior leaders will stage a dharna against the political killings. The party has claimed that nine workers have lost their lives in widespread violence unleashed by Trinamool Congress after the declaration of the Assembly election results on May 2.

5 villagers die, locals refuse to let health officials enter village in UP's Pilibhit

Five people of Vauni village in the Bisalpur area of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit1 ` district died on Tuesday and when health department officials went to the village to enquire about the deaths, they were asked to go back by the villagers. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rakesh Kumar Gupta told reporters that he has asked the superintendent of the community health centre, Dr Thakurdas, to visit the village.

14 crew members of cargo ship from India test positive for COVID-19 in South Africa

Fourteen crew members of a cargo ship that sailed to Durban from India have tested positive for COVID-19, South Africa's Transnet National Port Authority has said. A spokesperson from Transnet said the cause of a chief engineer's death aboard the ship was heart attack and not COVID-19.

Death of COVID-19 patients for non-supply of oxygen criminal act, not less than genocide: Allahabad HC

In stern remarks, the Allahabad High Court Tuesday observed that the death of Covid-19 patients just for non-supply of oxygen to hospitals is a criminal act, "not less than a genocide" by authorities entrusted the task to ensure the oxygen supply chain is maintained. The remarks were made on some news items doing the rounds on social media regarding the death of COVID-19 patients due to lack of oxygen in Lucknow and Meerut districts. The court also ordered a probe into the incidents.
