Centre releases Rs 8,873.6 cr fund to states to fight COVID-19

The Finance Ministry has released an amount of Rs 8,873.6 crore in advance towards central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for FY22 to help states in their fight against COVID-19. The advance release of 1st instalment of central share towards SDRF has been released as a special dispensation on the recommendations of the home ministry.

US dispatches third set of Coronavirus aid to India

The United States on Friday (local time) dispatched the third set of its several emergency COVID-19 relief shipments to India. Arriving in New Delhi with COVID-19 relief supplies from the Dulles International Airport in the national capital region, the carrier is en route to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The US carrier has onboard oxygen cylinders, test kits and other supplies and is expected to land in New Delhi after a brief haul in Munich according to USAID.

India records over 4L new COVID cases; 3,523 deaths in biggest 24-hour spike

India on Monday recorded 4,01,993 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 3,523 deaths due to the infection. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 2,99,988 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery toll to 1,56,84,406. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 1,91,64,969, with 32,68,710 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 2,11,853. A total of 15,49,89,635 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.
