Maharashtra govt harassing Remdesivir supplier because BJP leaders approached him: Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis has alleged the state government was harassing a supplier of Remdesivir from neighbouring union territory Daman because Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders had approached him for supply of the antiviral medication to the state.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said he tried to discuss the oxygen supply issue with Narendra Modi on phone but was told that the prime minister was busy campaigning for the West Bengal elections. The chief minister made the statement during an online interaction with industrialists and representatives of trade bodies while underlining the need for ramping up oxygen supply and other health infrastructure to deal with the pandemic.

Odisha mandates COVID-19 tests, 14-day quarantine for Kumbh Mela returnees

The Odisha government on Saturday said all returnees from the Kumbh Mela will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period, apart from RT-PCR tests before setting foot in the state, in an effort to rein in the spread of COVID-19. The quarantine can be completed at home or temporary medical camps (TMC), Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena said in an order. Jena said the list of people, who got themselves registered with the Uttarakhand government for participating in Kumbh Mela, has been shared with collectors and municipal commissioners to ascertain their location and travel plans.
