Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make COVID- 19 vaccines available in the open market for citizens willing to buy them. The move will help state governments streamline their focus on the vulnerable sections of the society, he wrote to the prime minister on Friday.

67 healthcare workers test positive for COVID-19 in Uttarakhand

As many as 67 healthcare workers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Uttarakhand. According to the details, the cases are spread across Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts, Dr. SK Gupta, Director of State Medical and Health Department said. The development comes amid the ongoing Kumbh Mela in the state, which witnessed a sea of devotees taking a holy dip, many mostly without masks with no proper social distancing.

India records 2.34 lakh new COVID-19 cases, 1,341 deaths in 24 hours; active cases nears 17 lakh

India reported 2,34,692 Covid-19 cases on Saturday, the highest single-day spike so far since the pandemic broke out, according to Health Ministry. Maharashtra alone accounts for 27.15 per cent of these cases.
