India sees slight dip in Covid cases with over 1.6 lakh new infections in last 24 hours

India on Monday witnessed a 4.24% dip in the coronavirus cases as 1,61,736 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry's daily bulletin, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 1,36,89,453, with 12,64,698 active cases at present.

14 private hospitals declared COVID-19 hospitals in Delhi - Full List

Amid worsening COVID-19 situation in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has converted 14 private hospitals and six government-run hospitals in the city into COVID-only facilities. The decision came hours after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired a high-level review meeting and directed the health department to increase the number of beds for patients with the coronavirus infection.

DCGI approves emergency use of Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in India

India's drug regulator has granted permission for the restricted emergency use of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine 'Sputnik V' with certain conditions, paving the way for a third vaccine to be available in the country, sources said on Monday. The approval by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) came after the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on COVID-19 of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) on Monday recommended granting approval to  Sputnik V for restricted emergency use subject to certain regulatory conditions.

Bengal records 4,511 new COVID cases, highest one-day spike since pandemic began

West Bengal on Monday registered 4,511 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since the pandemic started last year, pushing the state's tally to 6,19,407, the state health department said in a bulletin. Kolkata also set a record of 1,115 new cases.
